NEW POSTER: CANCEL THE APOCALYPSE

I had the pleasure of creating a piece for a Guillermo del Toro themed art show at Gallery1988. Lots to choose from, but the choice was simple! Pacific Rim! Check out the finished piece below. It's for sale in the shop.

DESIGN PROCESS

My idea was simple: Gypsy Danger emerging from the smoke of the battlefield with Kaiju hidden in the plumes. The execution, however, was not that simple. The texture was pretty intense and it made working with the file a little cumbersome, but it was worth it! An animated gif of the process is below.

PRINTING PROCESS

Mamas' Sauce took care of printing this one. A nice 3-color print on French Paper. As always, they did a bang-up job!

The man himself even came to the gallery! It was a huge success and I was lucky to be a part of it.

NEW POSTER: SLIME TIME

I did an illustration celebrating Ghostbusters a while back which I've always wanted to get printed.  So when Gallery1988 asked me to contribute to a comedian-themed gallery show, I thought why not pull that out of the archives and see it on paper?!

Bill Murray'e performance as Peter Venkman having a slimy run-in with everyone's favorite ghostly glutton was a great moment for me as a child. "I feel so funky."

Especially since Zuul scared the ecto cooler out of me.

Here's a little process gif showing how I built an early version of the illustration. I ended up making Slimer's head more rounded, along with other small details.

Here's Mama's Sauce gettin' those colors right. They slimed it good.

My copies are limited, but they are in the shop!

REJECTED: FIDDLEHEAD FOOD CO.

Almost forgot about this rejected branding project from last year. We eventually went in another direction (and name), but I really liked this solution. It was a bit of a departure from my usual style. I hated the name at first, but it really grew on me (pun intended) once I spent some time working through the branding process. This particular case study definitely made me go out of my comfort zone and showed me the importance of solving problems with an open mind.
