COMIC CON BACKDROP

ILLUSTRATION

CLIENT: ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

I had the pleasure of working with Entertainment Weekly to create some cosmic characters for their San Diego Comic Con booth! It was pretty cool to see them in the background during the celeb interviews. Here are some of the highlights: Jamie Lee Curtis, M. Night and the rest of the Glass cast, and the whole Riverdale gang!

TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO MAN HAS… BEEN BEFORE

These characters/ships had to feel like existing pop culture staples without encroaching on any intellectual property.

PINKTAIL POKE

RESTAURANT BRANDING

CLIENT PINKTAIL POKE

Poke as a food is the combination of raw seafood with fresh produce. The Pinktail branding had to reflect the vibrant nature of the cuisine and present itself as approachable and fun. Playful typography, seafood imagery, and clean design come together for a look and feel that’s unique and lively. I’m not ashamed to admit that I frequent this poke shop at least twice a week!

RAW POKE, RAW POWER!

Pinktail Poke needed to look fresh, clean, and bright—just like their ingredients.

JOHTO LEGENDS

VINYL PACKAGING

CLIENT: IAM8BIT

An additional Iam8bit project came my way in the form of another Nintendo soundtrack: Johto Legends. This double disc LP holds the remastered music of the original score from the Gameboy Color favorite, Pokémon Gold & Silver. Once again, I was unable to use any character likenesses so I focused on the journey through the Johto region. Taking a simple approach to the covers, the Kanji symbols for “gold” and “silver” are foil stamped boldly on the front and back. The gatefold opens up to a traditional Japanese-inspired map of Johto surrounded by the gym badges you earn throughout the game. Going along with the simple theme, the records themselves represent pokéballs through the use of split-poured vinyl!
